AlertSite offers a network testing tool which compares the speed of the site being tested to some of the Internet's most popular destinations. Structure
All elements of the structure - building shell, exterior, floors and roof - meet or surpass building codes and standards.

  • Building Shell: location dependent seismic compliance
  • Exterior: Exterior walls tightly sealed
  • Floor: no post tension or pre-stressed slabs
  • Roof: roof platform for antennae and dish equipment, less than two degrees deflection

Building Specifications
To provide further protection of customer assets, IBX® centers are built to effectively manage and withstand fire, flood, and earthquake.
  • Fire Suppression: Multi-zoned, dry pipe, water-based fire suppression system. Sensory mechanisms (sniffers) to sample air and provide alarms prior to pressurization. Dual alarm (heat and/or smoke) activation necessary for water pressurization of system. Water only enters the fire suppression system in the event of two cross-zone alarms, and will only disperse in the event of a broken or melted sprinkler-head. Any water discharge will be sprinklerhead specific, which will limit the potential for damage caused by over-spray
  • Flood Control: Built above sea level. No basements. Tightly sealed conduits, moisture barriers on exterior walls. Dedicated pump rooms; drainage/evacuation systems; moisture detection sensors.
  • Earthquake: Location-specific seismic compliance. Structural systems exceed minimum seismic design requirements of local building codes for lateral seismic design forces by a factor of at least 1.5. In addition, equipment and nonstructural components, including cabinets, are anchored and braced in accordance with the requirements of the 1997 Uniform Building Code.

Cages
Private and shared caged areas are configured with overhead cable distribution systems, dual ac and dc power distribution raceways, biometric hand geometry readers.

Data Distribution
To meet customers strategic growth plans and their need to respond to fast-changing traffic demands, IBX® cabling infrastructure allows almost infinitely scalable and flexibly configured interconnections. The data distribution system also effectively minimizes interference problems and maintains an orderly cable distribution structure. It permits rapid provisioning of bandwidth.

Environmental Controls
To provide optimum conditions for equipment operation and minimize downtime due to equipment failure, the HVAC system provides appropriate airflow, temperature and humidity. Redundancy features provide additional protection for customer operations.

Power Systems with Distributed Redundancy
Highly reliable power is imperative for critical customer operations. The entire electrical system has built-in redundancy to guarantee continuous operation. The overall system is N+1 redundant, including each component within the parallel electrical systems.
  • AC and DC raceways with 2N distribution
  • AC power delivery via parallel redundant UPS systems
  • Batteries with at least 7 minutes full load operation (diesel generators typically take roughly 8 seconds to become operational); 48 hours generator fuel with multiple contracts with fuel providers. Isolation K factor transformers used for 480 volt UPS to 208/120 volt. K factor of K13; 80 degrees Centigrade rise; copper winding, dc system fuse protection; -48 volt delivery via Hendry fuse panels.

Security
Mission-critical Internet operations require the highest-level security features, and IBX® centers deliver multi-level physical security. All areas of the center are monitored and recorded using CCTV, and all access points are controlled.
  • Center is manned by onsite security on a 24X365 basis.
  • No keys required: all doors, including cages, are secured with biometric hand geometry readers.
  • CCTV digital camera coverage of entire center, including cages, with archival system.
  • All exterior walls are bullet resistant.
  • Entire perimeter bounded by concrete bollards/planters.

We use only name brand components such as Segate/WD hard drives, Intel Xeon processors, ECC RAM and more. All new ImHosted™ shared hosting servers have at least 3GB of RAM. We never sacrifice quality on our hardware, even if it means sacrificing profit.
